July, 1998: Participated in the Industry-Education Program funded by the National Science Foundation.  Training included one week at Hudson Valley Community College and two weeks mentoring with Taconic Technology (telephone, cable, and internet provider in Chatham).
Spring, 1993 to Spring, 1996: Participation in the establishment of a high school science research program directed by Dr. Daniel Wulff at SUNY Albany.

September, 1990 to Present: Chatham Central School, Chatham, NY.

High School Science Teacher: Taught Advanced, Regents, and Non-Regents Earth Science, Regents Physics, Computer Science, and a Science Research Class. Active in team teaching and graduation by exhibition. High school Audio-Visual director and organizer of the student Video Yearbook. Granted tenure in science effective September, 1993.
February to May, 1990: Livingston Manor Central Schools, Livingston Manor, NY.

Student Teacher: Taught Ninth Grade Regents and Non-Regents Earth Science, Seventh Grade Life Science, and Twelfth Grade Science Elective.
September, 1989 to January, 1990: Monticello Central Schools, Monticello, NY.

Substitute Teacher: Substitute for grades 6-12 in a wide variety of subjects.
September, 1985 - May, 1987: University of Rochester, Rochester, NY.

October, 1987 to August, 1989: Vespo Marketing , Thompson Ridge, NY.

Technical Salesperson/Marketing Manager: Established a comprehensive national telemarketing program. In-depth knowledge of complete industrial electronics product line. Assisted customers in choosing proper equipment. Processed orders. Promoted to Marketing Manager after six months.
April, 1977 to October, 1987: S and G Pet Center, Monticello, NY.

Manager/Salesperson: Sold pets and pet supplies. Complete knowledge of products. Oversaw inventory, new product purchasing, and general store operations. Currently work there when available during long holidays and summers.

Grants and Awards

January, 2000:  Awarded a $750.00 grant from New York State Electric & Gas to study the efficiency of lightbulbs.

January, 1999: Presented the RadioShack/Tandy Scholar Award for "Academic Excellence in Mathematics, Science, and Computer Science".

January, 1997: Awarded a $250.00 grant from Questar III to develop school-to-work curricula.  Developed two activities.  The first allowed each student to learn desktop publishing by designing and creating their own book.  The second project allowed students to design, program, and publish their own web pages for the Internet.
January, 1996: Awarded a $500.00 grant from WMHT-PBS for the purchase of classroom equipment to develop scientific activities based on two NOVA episodes dealing with earthquakes. Students will use their skills to find the epicenter of an "earthquake" that is located on school grounds, as well as conducting several other related activities.

December, 1995: Classroom activity Sugar Crystal Growing Kit accepted for inclusion in the Science Kit/Boreal Laboratories catalog.

February, 1995: Awarded a $500.00 grant from WMHT-PBS for the purchase of equipment to develop scientific activities related to the NOVA Rollercoaster television episode. Included in this grant was funding to construct a life-sized section of rollercoaster track on which students could ride and test the basic physics principles involved.

October, 1993: Presented the New York State Public Television Award for Innovative Teaching with Telecommunications by the New York State Board of Regents.

September, 1993: Co-author of a grant for $3,000.00 from the National Center for Service Learning and School Change.

February, 1993: Received a $1,000.00 grant from WMHT-PBS for the purchase of equipment to develop a series of classroom dinosaur investigations to further enhance our earth science curriculum.

January, 1993: Awarded $150.00 of classroom equipment by Frey Scientific for the student experiment The Effects of Starch Based Packing Materials on the Environment.

December, 1992: Received a $4,245.00 grant from the Toshiba America Foundation to study the effects of radon gas on our community.

Computer Skills

Complete knowledge of a wide variety of word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, communication, and educational software on the Windows platforms. Extensive Internet experience. Knowledge of HTML, Pascal, Basic, Visual Basic, and Fortran programming languages. Served on district committee to establish a five year computer technology plan.
