Cuts Off Mother-in-Law’s Nose

Red Fork, Oklahoma resident Jack Van Zandt was arrested on June 24th of 1931 after getting in an argument with his mother-in-law, Ella Williams.  He was held on $2500 bail, which is about $38,000 today. The charge? Maiming.

What did he do?  He cut off her nose. Yes, you read that correctly.  Chopped off the old schnozzola.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge, although that makes one wonder how else she could have lost her nose?  I really doubt that it just fell off by itself...
