Nimrod Gives Bizarre Excuse
Thurmont, Md., Sept. 21 (AP). Two Baltimore hunters are $300 poorer today because of a slight misunderstanding in the field.
Cecil D, Wiblin paid two $100 fines on charges of shooting a 35-pound (~15.9 kg) fawn and possessing deer meat.
Conrad Roppelt was fined $100 on the possession charge. ($100 = $1,200 today.)
Wiblin explained just how it happened: He mistook the fawn for a groundhog.
